What is Lasertag
Lasertag is a great game - played outdoors with a Laser
Gun! No I'm afraid it isn't real but it's great fun!
Played very similar to paintball and in fact many of
the games are played exactly the same such as capture
the flag, defend the base, sniper etc. The main difference
is that you don't actually fire any type or projectile
but you fire a beam of infra-red light at your opponents
- being hit is also unlike paintball in that it doesn't
hurt, in fact you don't feel a thing.
Your gun is actually a very complex piece of electronics
that is run by a microprocessor based system. Sounds
are heard from the unit when you fire, reload, get hit,
and even when you are out of ammo. The sound effects
are part of the game, they tell the player what's happening
during it's course.
In most games there is a time limit to play and of course
an objective that your team must accomplish. You have
a limited number of lives during play as well as a limited
number of shots that can be fired at the enemy - or
if you are a bad shot at your own teams mates! Games
last for a maximum period of 15 minutes unless specified
otherwise - that's more than enough believe me! You
are a little tired at the end of most games, except
sniper games where you must pace yourself to eliminate
the enemy without getting knocked out.
The best thing of all is that anybody (unfortunately
all players must be able-bodied, but keep watching as
we are trying to find a way in which wheelchair users
can join in) is welcome to have a go. You are not restricted
by age as with paintball, so kids of all ages can play
and you don't end up with any of those paintball bruises!
